On August 5, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Dallas police responded to reports of a shooting in the 3500 block of Munger Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 38-year-old Raul Torres suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Torres succumbed to his injuries on August 11, 2024.
The investigation identified 17-year-old Francisco Bautista as the primary suspect.
Witnesses reported that Torres had been banging on the door of a residence where Bautista and two others were present, attempting to force entry. While one individual called 911, Bautista allegedly exited the residence and confronted Torres, shooting him in the head three times. A witness indicated that Torres had ceased his attempts to enter and was walking away when Bautista confronted him. After the shooting, Bautista reportedly fled the scene in his vehicle.
An arrest warrant for murder was issued for Bautista, who remained at large immediately following the incident. On August 13, 2024, Bautista surrendered to authorities at the Dallas County Jail. He has been charged with murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
