On August 25, 2024, at approximately 4:33 a.m., Killeen Police Department officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 2300 block of Andover Drive. While en route, they were informed of a vehicle accident in the 1000 block of Westover Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 68-year-old Vivian Delois McClain unconscious inside a crashed vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Justice of the Peace Nicola James pronounced her deceased at 5:04 a.m.
Following an investigation, detectives identified 24-year-old Killeen resident Dimani Phillip Gaddis as a suspect in McClain's murder. Gaddis had been arrested on September 9 on unrelated charges, including a "blue warrant" and burglary of vehicles. Subsequently, authorities charged him with murder in connection to McClain's death. He is currently held in the Bell County Jail with bond set at $1,250,000.
