On the night of August 29, 2024, Dallas Police Officer Darron Burks, aged 46, was fatally shot in a targeted attack near the Oak Cliff Community Center in Dallas, Texas. Officer Burks, a former high school math teacher who had recently transitioned to law enforcement to further serve his community, was approached by 30-year-old suspect Corey Cobb-Bey.
