On the evening of September 6, 2024, 17-year-old David Washington, a senior at Justin F. Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas, was fatally shot following a high school football game. The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. at a Love's gas station on Polk Street, directly across from John Kincaide Stadium, where a game between Duncanville and South Oak Cliff had just concluded.
