Summary based on 11 sources
On the night of September 17, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Amarillo police responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Jason Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old TiRay James Evans, known in the local music scene as rapper "Rich Baby," had been fatally shot. The assailants had fled the scene by the time authorities arrived.

Investigations revealed that Evans had arranged to meet 27-year-old James Childs Jr. to sell an ounce of marijuana for $200. During the transaction, a witness reported hearing gunshots and observed Childs fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Childs was arrested the following day, September 18, and charged with murder.

Further inquiries uncovered that Evans owed $2,100 to 31-year-old Markeen Tiiedrick Rayshon Walker, a debt related to prior drug dealings. Text messages between Evans and Walker corroborated this financial dispute. On September 27, Walker was apprehended without incident and charged with murder.

A third individual, 25-year-old Teagann Ixavier Zabrantae Shaw, was arrested on October 10 in connection with Evans' death. All three suspects—Childs, Walker, and Shaw—were indicted by a Potter County grand jury for murder, with bonds set at $500,000 for Childs and Shaw, and $250,000 for Walker.

Evans was remembered by family and friends as a talented musician and a loving father. He is survived by his parents, Harry and LaToya Evans, his fiancée, Alijah Wynne, and his three sons. Funeral services were held on September 28, 2024, at Greater Love Temple in Amarillo.
