On October 21, 2024, at approximately 6:01 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting at the Bridge at Harris Ridge Apartments, located at 1501 East Howard Lane in northeast Austin. Upon arrival, they discovered 16-year-old Za’Riyah Sheffield with apparent gunshot wounds; she was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:09 p.m.
