On November 2, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting in the 9200 block of Skillman Street. Upon arrival, they learned that 29-year-old Emethius Chiron Hardeman had been transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Hardeman succumbed to his injuries.
In the days following the incident, the Dallas Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S.
Marshals' North Texas Fugitive Task Force, arrested 26-year-old Darrion Berry-Scott in connection with Hardeman's death. Berry-Scott has been charged with murder. Details regarding the motive behind the shooting have not been disclosed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Hardeman was remembered by family and friends as an outgoing and caring individual, known for his dedication to sports, including wrestling, mixed martial arts, and football. He was a state champion wrestler and demonstrated a strong commitment to his teammates and the values of sportsmanship. A visitation was held on November 15, 2024, followed by a funeral service on November 16, both at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas.
