On January 16, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a tragic mass shooting occurred in Goshen, California, resulting in the deaths of six family members, including 72-year-old Rosa Parraz. The victims were identified as Rosa Parraz, 52-year-old Eladio Parraz Jr., 50-year-old Jennifer Analla, 19-year-old Marcos Parraz, 16-year-old Alissa Parraz, and her 10-month-old son, Nycholas.
The assailants executed the victims in a manner described by authorities as "cartel-style." Notably, 16-year-old Alissa Parraz attempted to flee with her infant son; however, both were tragically shot and killed outside the residence.
In the weeks following the incident, law enforcement launched "Operation Nightmare," leading to the arrests of two suspects: 35-year-old Angel Uriarte and 25-year-old Noah Beard. Both individuals are known gang members and have been charged with six counts of murder. During the apprehension, Uriarte engaged in a shootout with federal agents but was subsequently taken into custody after sustaining injuries.
Investigators have indicated that the motive behind the massacre is linked to gang affiliations and rivalries. A week prior to the shooting, a search warrant executed at the Parraz residence resulted in the discovery of drugs, ammunition, and weapons, leading to the arrest and subsequent release on bail of a family member.
The community of Goshen remains in mourning as the legal proceedings against Uriarte and Beard continue. If convicted, both face the possibility of life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.
