On January 28, 2023, 28-year-old Navy veteran and father of two, Carl Anthony Flenoy Jr., was fatally shot while driving in Los Angeles County. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway off-ramp at La Tijera Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport. Flenoy was returning home to Inglewood with his girlfriend, Bria Echols, after an evening out in Marina Del Rey.
