On February 12, 2023, at approximately 12:16 a.m., 23-year-old Pascual Guarchaj Lopez was fatally shot near the intersection of Lucas Avenue and Ingraham Street in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Responding officers from the Los Angeles Police Department found Lopez on a sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later confirmed Lopez's identity and ruled the death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the chest.
Witnesses reported that Lopez and the suspect were walking together when the suspect suddenly produced a firearm and shot Lopez once before fleeing the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not released a description of the suspect. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Lopez's death and urges anyone with information to come forward.
