On March 15, 2023, at approximately 1:57 a.m., Stockton police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Vicki Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Enrique Hinojosa Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate attention, Hinojosa Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the victim as Hinojosa Jr.
As of March 22, 2023, authorities had not established a motive for the shooting, and no suspect information was available. The Stockton Police Department urged anyone with information to contact their non-emergency number or the Investigations Division to assist in the ongoing investigation.
In the aftermath of his death, a memorial page was created to honor Hinojosa Jr., where friends and family shared memories and lit candles in his remembrance. The page reflects the community's grief and the impact of his loss due to gun violence.
Prior to his death, public records indicate that Hinojosa Jr. had several encounters with law enforcement. Notably, on December 20, 2005, he was arrested in San Joaquin County for receiving or concealing stolen property and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent. Additionally, on January 31, 2006, he faced charges including possession of a firearm and controlled substances, transportation or selling of a controlled substance, and receiving or concealing stolen property.
As of now, there have been no reports of arrests or identification of suspects related to Hinojosa Jr.'s death. The case remains unsolved, and law enforcement continues to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation.
