Rathanar Or, a 9-year-old boy, tragically lost his life on January 17, 1989, during the Cleveland Elementary School shooting in Stockton, California. This horrific event unfolded when a lone gunman, Patrick Purdy, entered the school playground during recess and began firing indiscriminately. Purdy, armed with a Type 56 assault rifle, fired 106 rounds in just three minutes, resulting in the deaths of five children, including Rathanar Or, and injuring 31 others, including one teacher.
