On April 25, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., 16-year-old Jodien Brown was fatally shot at an apartment complex near Sussex Way and Clark Street in Fresno, California. Responding officers found Brown with a gunshot wound to the chest; he was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. A 14-year-old boy was also injured in the incident, suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and groin area; he was treated at a hospital and listed in stable
condition.
Investigations revealed that a verbal altercation involving several juveniles preceded the shooting. During this disturbance, Brown was reportedly in possession of a firearm and discharged it during the incident. The Fresno Police Department is treating the case as a possible homicide and is actively seeking surveillance footage and witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
