On April 28, 2023, at approximately 3:55 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 11900 block of 162nd Street in Norwalk, California, near Hermosillo Park. Upon arrival, they discovered 55-year-old Jose Luis Tavarez seated beside a park bench, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
