On May 8, 2023, at approximately 9:16 p.m., Los Angeles police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 9000 block of South Manhattan Place, near Western Avenue in South Los Angeles. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Kim Byous in an alley, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Byous was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:34 p.m.
