On May 16, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station responded to reports of a shooting in the 64000 block of 16th Avenue in North Palm Springs. Upon arrival, they discovered 48-year-old Jeremy M. Abshear suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate first aid efforts and the arrival of paramedics, Abshear was pronounced dead at the scene.
