On October 8, 2016, Officer Jose Gilbert "Gil" Vega, aged 63, tragically lost his life in Palm Springs, California. Officer Vega, a veteran of the Palm Springs Police Department with 35 years of service, was not scheduled to work that day but had volunteered for an overtime shift.
