On the evening of June 9, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred in Azusa, California, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Carlos Cruz. The incident took place shortly after 11 p.m. in front of an apartment complex located in the 200 block of East Newburgh Street. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Cruz was in the company of two other individuals—a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man—when several suspects approached them and opened fire.
