On the evening of July 2, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., 25-year-old Miguel Velasquez Recinos was fatally shot in the Westlake District of Los Angeles. The incident occurred near the intersection of Eighth Street and Park View Avenue, close to MacArthur Park. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Velasquez was standing on the sidewalk when two male suspects approached him on scooters. After a brief verbal exchange, one of the suspects drew a handgun and shot Velasquez in the chest. ...
