On July 29, 2023, at approximately 10:55 p.m., a tragic shooting occurred in the 2100 block of East 99th Street in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. The incident claimed the life of 19-year-old Los Angeles resident, Kyimonte Johnson, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the back, classifying the manner of death as homicide.
