On July 9, 2024, at approximately 5:45 a.m., 28-year-old Ariel Cervantes was fatally shot in the 700 block of Crocker Street in downtown Los Angeles. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, classifying the incident as a homicide.
