On August 17, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., 40-year-old Jose Baena was fatally shot in South Gate, California. The incident occurred in the 8600 block of Garfield Avenue, where Baena was found on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
