Victor Salazar, a 41-year-old Hispanic man, was a resident of Rancho Cucamonga, California. His life was cut short in an act of gun violence in the summer of 2023.
On the evening of Friday, August 18, 2023, at approximately 8:14 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received multiple reports of shots fired in Rancho Cucamonga. Deputies from the local station responded to the 10200 block of 25th Street, near Center Street and Hermosa Avenue.
When they arrived, they discovered Victor Salazar lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail immediately assumed the investigation, classifying the death as a murder. In the initial stages of the inquiry, no description of a suspect was established, and no motive was made public. The person responsible for Victor's death remained at large, and the case grew cold.
Three years later, investigators developed new leads, prompting them to re-examine the case. In September 2026, the Sheriff’s Department made a renewed appeal to the public for help in solving the killing. Authorities released a photograph of Victor and asked for anyone who may have seen him in the time leading up to the shooting, or who had any information about what happened that night, to come forward and help them reconstruct the events.
To date, no arrests have been made, and Victor Salazar's murder remains unsolved. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Travis Kleveno at (909) 890-4904. A cash reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information provided to We-Tip that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. The investigation was ongoing as of September 2026.
