Corey Deshawn Cooper, a 39-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, tragically lost his life on May 6, 2021, in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM when deputies responded to a three-vehicle collision on the 10800 block of Church Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Cooper deceased in his car with a gunshot wound. Initial investigations revealed that Cooper had been shot while driving, causing him to lose control of his vehicle, which then veered into oncoming traffic
and collided with two other cars. The other drivers involved in the crash were not injured.
The investigation into Cooper's death led detectives to suspect a white Jeep, which was identified through multiple databases. This vehicle was registered to Anthony Spennato, 40, and Beth Ullom, 39, both residents of Rancho Cucamonga. The Jeep had been sold approximately two weeks after the shooting, but detectives were able to trace it back to the suspects. Nearly a year after the incident, on April 28, 2022, Spennato and Ullom were arrested. Spennato was charged with murder and held on a $1 million bail, while Ullom was charged with being an accessory to murder and held on a $50,000 bail.
The authorities determined that neither Cooper nor the suspects were known to each other, suggesting that the shooting might have been a result of road rage.
