On August 26, 2023, at approximately 10:34 p.m., 28-year-old Daniella Stephanie Avila of Concord, California, was fatally shot in the 100 block of Rodeo Avenue in Rodeo. Responding to multiple reports of gunfire, Contra Costa County Sheriff's deputies and fire department personnel arrived at the scene to find Avila suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that Avila, a young mother of an 8-year-old son, was dr
iving her Mercedes-Benz to visit her boyfriend when her vehicle was struck by gunfire. She managed to exit the car and sought help but collapsed shortly thereafter. Neighbors recounted hearing rapid gunshots and described Avila as "young, bubbly, trending," and a devoted mother.
As of now, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office has not announced any arrests or identified any suspects in connection with Avila's death.
