On September 17, 2023, 19-year-old Edin Everto Figueroa Acosta from San Mateo County was fatally shot in San Francisco. The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. in the 500 block of Twin Peaks Boulevard, a popular scenic area known for its panoramic views of the city. Officers responded to the scene and found Acosta with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries later that afternoon.
