On January 7, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Eucalyptus Drive and Sterling Road in east Bakersfield. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 21-year-old Jacob Camarena suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, Camarena was pronounced dead at the scene.
