On the night of February 11, 2024, 24-year-old Kevin Parada was fatally shot near the Martha Escutia Primary Center in Bell, California. Parada, a husband and father residing nearby, was standing outside his apartment with a friend when a dark red SUV approached. A passenger in the vehicle reportedly asked, "Where are you from?" before opening fire, striking Parada and narrowly missing his companion. Parada succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
