On March 16, 2024, 21-year-old Eva Linda Berrueto-Gough and her 22-year-old husband, Ethan Gough, were found deceased in their residence on East Port Hueneme Road in Port Hueneme, California. Eva, who was eight months pregnant, died from multiple gunshot wounds, with her death ruled a homicide. The unborn child also succumbed due to multiple maternal and fetal gunshot wounds, classified as a homicide.
Ethan's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and neck; his death was later determined to be a homicide.
Eva, a native of Houston, Texas, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 2021. She completed basic training in May 2022 and further training as a Seabee in August 2022. At the time of her death, she held the rank of E-3 Seabee, assigned to the 1st Naval Construction Regiment in Port Hueneme. Her family remembers her as a loving, caring, and funny individual, excited about the impending birth of her daughter.
