Aileen Villasenor was a 19-year-old Hispanic woman from Rohnert Park and the mother of a 9-month-old daughter, Alana. Friends and family remembered her with a makeshift memorial of photos and flowers after her life was cut short by violence in the spring of 2024.
On the evening of April 13, 2024, Aileen and her acquaintance, 17-year-old Sasha Mufich, were found with gunshot wounds near the roadway in the 400 block of Riverside Drive in Napa, California.
Police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:10 p.m. Emergency personnel treated both victims, but Sasha was pronounced dead at the scene. Aileen was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute. According to court testimony, three people had driven to Napa so that one of them, Judith Adolph, could physically fight Aileen over the father of Aileen’s baby. After a brief altercation between the two women, the groups separated. A short time later, prosecutors allege that Jonathan Nicholson Jr. put on a mask, chased Aileen and Sasha, and shot them.
Within days, Napa police arrested three suspects. On April 15, 2024, officers apprehended 22-year-old Jonathan Nicholson Jr. of Vallejo. The next day, 19-year-old Jessica Whitten and 19-year-old Judith Adolph, both of Santa Rosa, were also taken into custody.
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office charged Nicholson and Whitten with two counts of first-degree murder. Whitten also faced a charge of being an accessory. Adolph was charged with assault with a semiautomatic rifle and being an accessory. All three initially pleaded not guilty in December 2024.
In March 2025, Judith Adolph entered a no-contest plea to the charges against her and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors. She later testified against her co-defendants during a five-day preliminary hearing. Following that hearing, in April 2026, a judge ruled there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed. Jonathan Nicholson Jr. and Jessica Whitten were ordered to stand trial on the murder charges.
