On April 20, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Butte County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 500 block of Lodgeview Drive in the Kelly Ridge area of Oroville, California. Upon arrival, deputies found 61-year-old Richard Alan Kelly of Chico lying deceased in the street next to his vehicle, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the face.
