On April 28, 2024, at approximately 1:34 a.m., Stockton Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 6200 block of North Pershing Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Stockton resident, Lawrence Nevel, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, Nevel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident marked the 19th homicide in Stockton for the year 2024.
Authorities initiated a homicide investigation but did not immediately release information regarding potential motives or suspects involved in Nevel's death.
As of December 26, 2024, there have been no publicly reported arrests or identification of suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Lawrence Nevel. The Stockton Police Department continues to investigate the case and urges anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
