On May 8, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 28-year-old Long Beach resident, Tyrone Parks III, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite immediate medical assistance, Parks was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an intensive investigation, homicide detectives identified 29-year-old Temecula resident, Xabian Che Brown, as the primary suspect. Authorities determined that Parks and Brown were acquainted and had engaged in a dispute that escalated into the fatal shooting. The exact motive behind the altercation remains under investigation.
On May 15, 2024, Special Investigation Division detectives apprehended Brown in Temecula. He was transported to the Long Beach City Jail and booked on charges including murder, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and being an ex-felon in possession of ammunition. Brown's bail was set at $2 million. Detectives plan to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
