On May 10, 2024, at approximately 1:26 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to a report of a shooting at the Motel 6 located in the 16800 block of Stoddard Wells Road in Victorville, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Jontae Marsh, a resident of Victorville, suffering from gunshot wounds. Marsh was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail determined that Marsh had been involved in a physical altercation with 29-year-old Terry Williams, also a resident of Victorville. During the altercation, Williams retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot Marsh. Williams was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center, where he remains without bail.
