On June 5, 2024, at approximately 10:09 p.m., 19-year-old Luis Manuel Arguello-Inglis was fatally shot in San Francisco's Dolores Park, located between 18th and 19th streets. Officers from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) responded to reports of gunfire and found Arguello-Inglis on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arguello-Inglis was a San Francisco native, a graduate of Lowell High School, and a freshman at San Jose State University, where he was studying communications. He had recently earned his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and aspired to become a paramedic and firefighter. His family described him as a kind, loving, and ambitious young man with a bright future ahead.
In the aftermath of the shooting, a memorial was established at Dolores Park, with friends and family gathering to honor his memory. A GoFundMe campaign was initiated to support the family, raising over $40,000 to cover unexpected expenses.
The SFPD's homicide unit is actively investigating the case. While initial reports indicated a possible dispute leading to the shooting, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
