On June 9, 2024, 21-year-old San Pedro resident Jose Anthony Monge was fatally shot on a sidewalk in the 400 block of West Oliver Street. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m., where Monge was pronounced dead.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified Monge and determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds, ruling the manner of death as homicide.
