Death by Force

On June 28, 2024, in Atwater, California, 26-year-old Francisco Hurtado was fatally shot in the 100 block of Castle Drive. Responding to reports of shots fired around midnight, officers found Hurtado with multiple gunshot wounds; despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A 2-year-old child present also sustained a gunshot wound to the lower leg; the injury was deemed non-life-threatening, and the child was transported to a hospital for treatment.
