Despite immediate medical assistance from officers and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 44-year-old woman, who was also present during the shooting, sustained at least one gunshot wound. She sought help at Sutter Delta Medical Hospital and was later transferred to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she remained in critical condition.

Scott Moore had previous encounters with law enforcement. He was arrested on September 17, 2016, and July 26, 2020, both times for warrants or holds only. Additionally, on September 28, 2022, he was arrested for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.
