On the evening of July 4, 2024, 34-year-old Ruby Yolanda Sorto was fatally shot in a vehicle-to-vehicle incident in South Los Angeles. The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West 84th Street. Sorto, who was driving one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger in her vehicle sustained injuries but was treated on-site and released.
