On August 22, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., 38-year-old Antwon Benson was fatally shot while standing with a group of individuals in the 7900 block of Ney Avenue in East Oakland, California. An unidentified assailant opened fire, possibly from a moving vehicle, striking Benson and injuring two others. The injured parties managed to transport themselves to a nearby hospital for treatment.
