Cristorey Gundaya Mariano, a 53-year-old Navy veteran, was tragically murdered on July 23, 2010, in East Oakland. Mariano was returning home from his late-night shift as a hospital janitor when he was shot near the 5700 block of East 15th Street. The crime occurred just before 1:50 a.m., and it left the community shaken. Mariano was a well-loved member of his neighborhood and a family man, leaving behind loved ones in mourning.
