On October 31, 2015, Abebe Bent, aged 38, was fatally shot in West Oakland, California. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Market Street when Bent was talking to two women who were seated in a parked car with a four-year-old child. Shots were fired at Bent, who was hit by a bullet. He ran around the corner but tragically collapsed and died from his injuries.
