On September 18, 2024, at approximately 4 a.m., officers from the Tracy Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 1700 block of Hampshire Lane in Tracy, California. Upon arrival, they found 53-year-old Wesley Bozek with critical gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on September 19, 2024.
The investigation quickly identified Bozek's wife, 43-year-old Jean Miranda, as the primary suspect. Detectives from the General Investigation Unit arrested Miranda on September 19, 2024. She was charged with murder under California Penal Code 187(a) and the use of a firearm causing death or great bodily injury under Penal Code 12022.53(d). Miranda was subsequently booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
Authorities have stated that the incident appears to be a domestic matter, with no ongoing threat to the broader community. The couple had been married for several years, and at least one minor was present in the home at the time of the shooting. Investigators are reviewing prior incidents and service calls to the residence to determine if there was a history of domestic issues that could have led to this tragic event.
