On September 26, 2024, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Napa police responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds outside a residence: 38-year-old Napa resident Georgina "Gina" Padilla and 54-year-old American Canyon resident and attorney, Ralph "Andy" Andino III. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Padilla, a mother of three daughters, was a client of Andino. It is believed that Andino was at Padilla's residence to deliver a message regarding her case, reflecting his dedication to his clients and community.
Authorities quickly identified 28-year-old Napa resident, Baltazar Rangel Juarez, as the primary suspect. Juarez was reportedly Padilla's new boyfriend. Around 1:30 p.m. the same day, officers spotted Juarez's vehicle near the intersection of Juarez and 2nd streets. When police attempted a traffic stop, Juarez fled, leading officers on a pursuit into Kennedy Park, where his vehicle became disabled. During a standoff, Juarez refused to surrender and ultimately inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was immediately provided medical aid at the scene and transported to a local hospital.
Juarez succumbed to his injuries and passed away on October 2, 2024. The Napa Police Department extended condolences to the families of Padilla and Andino, acknowledging the profound impact of their loss on the community.
