On September 30, 2024, at approximately 12:09 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 1500 block of North Wilmington Avenue in Compton, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 64-year-old Darrell Andre Perkins, a homeless man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Perkins was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:51 a.m.
