On October 6, 2024, 45-year-old Joshua Loya was found deceased in a parking lot in the City of Industry, California. Authorities responded to a call shortly before noon and discovered Loya lying face up in the 14800 block of Don Julian Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later identified the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest, ruling it a homicide.
In the days leading up to his death, Loya had several encounters with law enforcement. On October 2, 2024, he was arrested by the El Monte Police Department for possession of a controlled substance. This arrest was part of a series of legal issues Loya faced over the years, including charges related to controlled substances and domestic violence.
As of now, investigators have not publicly disclosed any information regarding potential suspects or motives in Loya's death.
