On October 21, 2024, in San Jose, California, 37-year-old Francisco David Padilla was fatally shot during a robbery. The incident occurred shortly after 11:55 p.m. on the 1000 block of Saratoga Avenue. Responding officers found Padilla unconscious and not breathing; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Jose Police Department's investigation identified four suspects involved in the robbery and shooting: 36-year-old Daniel Andino, his sons 19-year-old Jose Andino and a
17-year-old juvenile, and 18-year-old Amelia Sistrunk, who is married to one of the Andino brothers. Detectives determined that during the robbery, the suspects assaulted Padilla and shot him at least once.
All four suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder. The adult suspects—Daniel and Jose Andino, and Amelia Sistrunk—were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail without bail, with court appearances scheduled shortly thereafter. The juvenile suspect was taken to Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
This tragic event marked San Jose's 25th homicide of 2024. The arrests brought some measure of resolution to the case, though the community continues to mourn the loss of Francisco David Padilla.
