Jeffrey Michael Fontana, a 24-year-old police officer with the San Jose Police Department, tragically lost his life on October 28, 2001. Fontana was patrolling an affluent neighborhood in San Jose's Almaden Valley when he encountered a suspect during what was believed to be a routine traffic stop.
