On January 2, 2023, 42-year-old Demarcus A. Mallory was found deceased in the driver's seat of a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu in North Nashville. The vehicle was located in the yard of a vacant residence on the 2200 block of 15th Avenue North. Residents had reported hearing gunshots in the area between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., and the car, with its lights on, was observed in the yard for several hours before authorities arrived around 11:40 p.m.
Mallory, who was on parole at the time of his death, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The Metro Nashville Police Department's Homicide Unit initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Despite efforts to gather information, no suspects were immediately identified, and no arrests were made in connection with the case. As of December 25, 2024, there have been no public reports indicating that any suspects have been arrested or charged in connection with Mallory's death.
