In the quiet hours of a February morning in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of Kyle Jacobs, a 49-year-old songwriter, came to a tragic end. On February 17, 2023, Jacobs was found deceased in his home from what authorities would later confirm was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The adult white male's death was investigated as an apparent suicide, a conclusion later solidified by an autopsy report.
The events leading to the discovery began when his wife, singer Kellie Pickler, awoke to find
him missing. After being unable to locate him, she and her personal assistant found themselves unable to open the door to an upstairs bedroom and office. A call to 911 brought officers and Nashville Fire Department personnel to the residence at approximately 1:21 p.m. It was there, in the upstairs room, that they found Jacobs deceased.
An autopsy conducted by the Davidson County Medical Examiner later confirmed that the cause of death was an 'intraoral shotgun wound'. The subsequent toxicology report revealed that there were no drugs in his system at the time of his death. The report did, however, note a history of 'pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use'. The official manner of death was ruled a suicide, and there was no indication of foul play. Consequently, there have been no arrests or suspects identified in connection with his death.
